The OHM-I belongs to Observatories Network Media Men-CNRS. Dedicated to the study of human-environment interactions in the context of socio-ecological systems determined the OHM are tools to serve the interdisciplinary practices and science-society relations. In February 2012, they were designated as the Laboratory of Excellence (Labex) Logo of the Future Investments by the Ministry of Research and Higher Education, under the acronym DRIIHM (Device for Interdisciplinary Research on Interactions men- Environments).

Concept

A OHM, as an observatory socio-environmental long-term, dedicated to the study of a socio-ecological system (SES). Consistency and the geographic scope of the SES are defined by a structuring of interaction between men and environments system. This system is particularly relevant to OHM when it is exposed to a major event, anthropogenic likely to generate unprecedented imbalances.

Multi-scalar approaches necessary to understanding the observed phenomena and play a joint role between projects of OHM, OHM between the network and between OHM and other scientific devices. This research object is shared by all relevant scientific disciplines to the study, from the natural sciences to the sciences of man and society. This collective research consists of research laboratories and local institutional partners, regional or national.

Operation

A OHM functions as a network of skills, in which scientific exchanges are organized, training is offered and the reconciliations policy makers are facilitated. Interdisciplinary practices are encouraged and every year, a call for research proposals to orient the work and invite the scientific teams to invest in the project of the observatory.

The knowledge produced result in the establishment of an information system (metadata, GIS, databases), the use and the data is shared between actors in the observatory.
